The position will be associated with the BioOptics Facility, which provides 'state of the art' microscopy applications, flow cytometry -, and image analysis services.
In this role, you will
- Build a knowledge hub for bioimage processing and analysis
- Design and refine AI algorithms for image analysis, collaborate with cross-functional teams to address biological challenges, and develop innovative solutions for feature extraction and pattern recognition
- Develop novel workflows, scalable data pipelines, and tool collections for image analyses aspects of research projects with scientists in research groups
- Implement, and adjust image analysis tools for analysis of microscopy data
- Coordinate image analysis across research groups, including embedded bioinformaticians
- Take part in establishing and maintaining data-infrastructures, repositories, and image research data management including large-data handling ensuring FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, and reproducible) principles (in collaboration with IT)
- Actively engage with colleagues across various disciplines to stimulate collaboration, foster innovation, share knowledge
- Foster training of scientists in competence in coding and adjusting image analysis pipelines
Your profile:
- Completed higher education (PhD or MSc) in in computer science, biomedical-image analysis or a related data-science field
- Several years of relevant work experience in the field (research-group or core facility)
- Proven strong programming and data-analysis skills in Python.
- In-depth understanding of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning applications
- Proficiency in a wide variety of programming languages and image analysis programs (FIJI, Jupyter, CellProfiler, Napari)
- Highly collaborative and proven track-record of success in scientific collaborations
- Service-oriented workstyle with high self-motivation and reliability
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective interaction with a diverse group of scientists
- Good analytical skills and creativity in solving problems

The gross salary for this position is € 75.737,20 (equivalent to FWF senior postdoc) based on a full-time employment, 40h/w, negotiable based on qualification and experience. We aim to fill this position as soon as possible.
The position is initially limited to two years, with the possibility to convert to a permanent position after one year.
