An open-source COVID-19 test empowers African diagnostics and research
Scientists at the Vienna BioCenter have developed an open-source COVID-19 testing method that labs around the world can deploy at minimum cost. Together with a group of European scientists, they established a network of collaborators in Africa who are validating the method and building capacity to produce their own reagents and conduct innovative research. The project could be a cornerstone of the journey to independent diagnostics and biomedical research in Africa.
