EMBO workshop to discuss genome organisation by SMC complexes

31 May 2019

The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) will hold the workshop "Organization of bacterial and eukaryotic genomes by SMC complexes" at the IMP in September.

The EMBO workshop will discuss recent advances in understanding how bacterial and SMC complexes might actively fold DNA and perform other functions, how these are controlled at the molecular level, how SMC proteins contribute to cellular and organismal physiology, and how defects in SMC complexes can cause human diseases.

The workshop will bring together both established and young scientists from a broad range of different fields, ranging from structural biologists to practicing clinicians. Organised under the lead of IMP director Jan-Michael Peters, it will be held at the IMP Lecture Hall from 10 to 13 September.

Conference participants will be selected by the organizing committee based on the scientific excellence of the submitted abstract, gender balance, balance of young and senior scientists, the representation of different nationalities, and the representation of different research groups active in the field.

The registration deadline is 15 June 2019. Further information and registration materials can be found at:
