Ref2110: Masters/Diploma Thesis in Circuit Neuroscience

The lab of Wulf Haubensak is looking for a highly motivated Diploma/Master Student in neuroscience.

Motivated by the quest for the neural basis of emotions, our laboratory uses circuit genetic technologies to deconstruct how neuronal circuits process affective information.

For our activities, please visit http://www.imp.ac.at/research/wulf-haubensak.

In your project, you will have the opportunity to explore how the brain transforms experiences into emotional memories.

For details of the project see https://www.imp.ac.at/news/article/cross-border-project-to-investigate-how-emotional-memories-are-formed/.

You will acquire fundamental knowledge in state-of-the-art neuroscientific techniques such as neuronal tracing, Calcium imaging, animal behavior and histology.

Ideally, you should have a background in natural sciences and/or medicine, good communication skills, a strong interest in neuroscience and you should be motivated to pioneer novel multidisciplinary approaches towards understanding the brain.

  • Expected starting date: autumn 2021

Please send a letter of motivation and your CV to Dr. Wulf Haubensak (wulf.haubensak[at]imp.ac.at).
