Ref2114: Masters thesis in Structural Biology (cryo-EM)

The research group of Clemens Plaschka has an open position for a Master’s student at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) to study a key step in human mRNA processing.

Project:

The successful candidate will carry out research on an essential multi-subunit complex involved in mRNA processing. He/she will be exposed to a variety of molecular biology techniques, including biochemical preparation of the complex from insect cells (cloning, purification), structure determination by cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM), and functional assays.

Requirements:

The ideal applicant will be highly motivated, have a strong interest in structural biology and have experience in standard biochemistry methods. We offer an exciting research project, outstanding infrastructure, and an excellent opportunity to learn both biochemistry and cryo-EM. The position is available from spring 2022 and remains open until filled. The student will receive a monthly stipend.
