ref2007: Research Assistant (10 hrs/week) (Tanaka Lab)

The Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna pursues world-class research in basic molecular biology. It is located at the Vienna BioCenter and largely sponsored by Boehringer Ingelheim. With over 250 scientists from 40 countries, the IMP is committed to scientific discovery of fundamental molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying complex biological phenomena.  

We are currently searching for a 10 hour per week research assistant, starting immediately to work in the laboratory of Dr. Elly Tanaka at the Research Institute of Molecular Pathology in Vienna, Austria.  The lab’s research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying regeneration in amphibian models and promoting regeneration in mammalian models. The lab employs a wide array of molecular biology, histology and in vivo approaches to identify pro-regenerative mechanisms.

Your qualifications

The applicant should already have a Bachelor’s degree and experience with molecular biology in the laboratory through practicals. The work will entail routine work involving genotyping of animal samples, other routine molecular biology and lab maintenance work.  The work may involve some work with axolotls.

The position also offers opportunities for further training in multidisciplinary techniques spanning molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and biophysics. The annual gross salary starts from € 32,200, - or higher, - for a full-time position (40 hrs/week), depending on qualification and experience. The employment will be limited to one year with possible extension.
