Research thrives in collaborative environments. The science conducted at the IMP draws from many people and institutions – intellectually and financially. On this page, the IMP gives credit to the many entities that sponsored the institute since its establishment. In addition to the IMP’s main sponsor, Boehringer Ingelheim, many public and private grants contributed to the scientific success of the institute.
The IMP operates on an annual budget of approximately 36 million Euros as of 2022, of which two thirds are provided as core funding from Boehringer Ingelheim. Significant one-time investments such as the construction of the new IMP building were also possible through support from Boehringer Ingelheim.
About one third of the IMP's budget is raised through external funding, provided by funding agencies and foundations from Austria as well as other European sources and some non-European grants.
